Quick Summary
For 15 years I helped the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center become a top 30 Cancer Center in America (No longer the case). I didn't know how to prioritize, which was really important in life, I was blinded by success, and I foolishly put my career first in my life over my family which led to burnout (see burnout tab its real) and several strokes.
Now I am coming back, stronger than ever! Looking for a company/organization that cares about their employees to give me a shot you wont regret it.
Hence, the book I'm writing focuses on people working up the corporate ladder to make a name for yourself is ok, just make sure you are doing it for the right reasons and for the right organization.
I was lucky enough to work with exceptional leaders and bosses in Dr Knudsen and Dr Klasko, John Ekarius, Dr Neal Flomenberg, Dr Kevin Kelly .. Leadership matters.
I should have followed the path of Dr K. I wish I could have continued to grow with her leadership.
My goal is to tell my story so people don't make the same mistakes that I did.
1. Work for companies that value employees (they do exist), not ones that use you and throw you away.
2. Don't trust anyone; their promises are worthless, even if you think they are good people. Get everything in writing and have a hard copy printed at all times.
3. Don't settle. Do what is right for you, even if it lets down the people around you. Do what is right for you and you only
4. Do NOT be emotional. Passion is great to drive your ideas and business. There is no doubt. However, you need to separate the emotion from the business. Something I struggled at
